Fence Installation FAQ
When it comes to pickets for your wood fence, pine pickets will be the most affordable. Pine pickets have a greater risk of shrinking, warping, and buckling. Cedar pickets are more expensive, but they last longer and don’t require any special treatment. Cedar pickets are also more visulally appealing and last longer than pine ones. Western Red Cedar is the most popular cedar picket used in fences.
Pine pickets with two rails are the most popular fence option for track home builders. This construction method uses a top-and-bottom treated 2×4 to span between a 4×4 post. Pickets are left without support in the middle. A 2×4 will be added between the posts to upgrade to a 3 rail fence. The picket will have more support and strength in three places than it does in 2. A bottom rot board, which prevents water/moisture from traveling vertically up pickets, will also extend the fence’s life. A treated 2×6′ board is placed horizontally at the fence’s base to act as a rot board. Because the grain is horizontal, it cannot travel either vertically or up. Potential customers will always be recommended a 3 rail, bottom-rot board fence by Humble Fence Company.
Fence installs of less than 100 feet can usually be done in one day. A job that is more than 100 feet in length will take at most 3 days. Depending on the details of the job, it may take up to 3 days. humble fence company will be happy to help you with any special requests or concerns. We’ll also make sure that our crews know about them in advance.
Humble Fence Company accepts cash, check, and credit cards. Our Quickbooks software will send you an invoice via email usually the day before or on the day of your fence installation date. You have two options: pay online with a credit card or wait until Jeff Bistany arrives on-site to receive your cash or check payment. To avoid payment problems, we ask that you don’t pay anyone on the crew. If your neighbor is going to be splitting fence sections, we can invoice them separately. We will need to know when you want to schedule your job. We need their full names, addresses, email addresses, and phone numbers.
It is common for your neighbor to split the cost of replacing a section of fence. It is best to inform your neighbor in advance that you want to replace the fence and you are getting estimates to do so. A “Good Neighbor” fence is a type of fence that subdivision builders commonly build. One section of pickets faces inward, while the next section faces outward. It’s much easier to discuss the fence with your neighbor in this case. If your neighbor is not willing to pay for the fence, you have the option to have the pickets face inward. This will give you a better-looking fence. Make sure that your HOA allows this option.
